Ogden Community United Methodist Church Office Administration & Marketing/Content Creator Job Description


 

Details:

  • Start Date: January 1, 2025

  • Location: In-Person at 337 SW 2nd Street, Ogden, IA 50212

  • Pay: From $18.00 per hour

  • Benefits: NA

  • Expected hours: 20-25 per week

  • Reports to: Staff Parish Relations Team (SPRC) & the Pastor

  • Wage Classification: Non-exempt Classification, Hourly, Part-Time

  • Shifts: Monday to Friday (8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)

Administrative Duties:

  • Manage the church office’s day-to-day operations, including answering phones, responding to emails, and assisting walk-in’s.

  • Assist with church events, including organizing meetings and preparing materials.

  • Maintain church records, files, and databases in an organized and accessible manner.

  • Manage church office supplies and equipment, ensuring everything is stocked and functioning, and maintenance appointments are scheduled.

  • Serve as a point of contact for church members and guests, providing excellent customer service.

  • Coordinate and schedule volunteers for various roles during Sunday services (e.g., ushers, greeters, sound tech, communion servers, etc.), ensuring all positions are filled and communicated clearly.

  • Design, print, and set-up weekly bulletins and presentation slides for worship services, including lyrics, sermon points, scripture readings, and announcements.

  • Assist Leadership Team by organizing meetings, collecting minutes, and distributing.

Marketing/Content Creator Duties:

  • Develop and execute digital and print marketing campaigns to promote church services, events, and programs.

  • Manage and update church websites, social media accounts, and other online platforms to engage the congregation and attract new members.

  • Create email newsletters, event flyers, and promotional materials, ensuring a consistent brand and message.

  • Ensure all digital content is up-to-date, accurate, and accessible to both members and the wider community.

Skills:

  • Able to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals - in person, over the phone and in writing.

  • Warm, enthusiastic and welcoming to members and guests.

  • Ability to work well with others - including members of the staff, congregation, guests, and volunteers.

  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in Google applications (Docs, Slides, Sheets) or MS Office Suite of Products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge  or a willingness to learn operating software such as Planning Center, SquareSpace, MailChimp. Knowledge of databases and publishing software is a plus.

  • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to details. Must be able to manage processes.

  • Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
